April 3, 2009: Sprinkler Project UpdateBelow is the schedule and narrative for the next three weeks. The installation of sprinkler pipes will be confined to the basement, as work in the stairwells is complete for the time being and will not resume until June 8 th . The schedule will continue to be an 8am start, with drilling occurring after 10am. This schedule will continue until May 1 st . At that time sprinkler installation will be suspended until after graduation. Key points for the next couple of weeks. • Design work in entries C (top floor only),D,E,F,I. This work will take place on Monday (6 th ), Tuesday (7 th ), Wednesday (8 th ) between the hours of 12 noon and 4pm. All access into dorm rooms will be by escort only. • The Rock Climbing wall will be closed during the week of April 6 th and reopen on April 13 th • The Dance studio will only be closed during the day, but will be available after 6pm, while work is being done. Construction staging will be left in the corner for several days. It will be clearly marked, Please use caution in the dance studio during this period while the sprinkler pipes are being installed. • The water line from Plympton Street is expected to be installed into both Old Quincy and Lowell Houses starting on Tuesday April 21 st and will last about four days. This work will be loud as they core the foundation wall and make the cuts in the street. Hours of operation are expected to be between 8am and 6pm. This schedule may change depending on the city of Cambridge and its final approval for the work. I hope the work to this point has not been a too disruptive. The goal for the month of April is to have the basement ready for storage in May. It is hard to be believe that we are only weeks away, when the day all of the seniors have dreamed of is here and for the rest of us we will be packing up for the summer.
